Having flown from London to Antigua with British Airways on multiple occasions I highly recommend it. Although more expensive, Premium Economy flights are particularly enjoyable for the following reasons...

  • Comfortable seating - wider seats, more legroom and a greater recline

British Airways Executive Club

It costs nothing to become a member of British Airways Executive Club and the reward scheme is extremely beneficial especially for frequent flyers. When submitting an application for membership, rewards can be added for flights taken in the previous three months so you can start accruing Avios straight away.

How to accumulate Avios and tier points

There are several ways to accumulate Avios and tier points such as shopping online, booking flights, car parking and hotels. Some major supermarkets also have their own reward schemes with points that can easily be converted to Avios. American Express and other credit cards also partner with BA and points can be transferred quickly and easily. When combining all of the above, Avios can build up surprisingly fast.

British Airways membership levels

British Airways has several types of membership to advance through - blue, bronze, silver and gold. The more points you acquire the quicker you can jump up a level, each has its own set of perks:

Blue is the first stepping stone and allows you to accumulate Avios to spend on rewards, flights and upgrades. New members automatically start the scheme as a blue member.

Bronze boosts bonus Avios by 25% when booking with British Airways. Benefits include business class check-in, priority boarding and free seat selection from a week before departure.

Silver boosts bonus Avios by 50% when making a booking. Benefits include a free lounge pass, business class check-in, free seat selection on booking, extra baggage allowance (some restrictions apply) and priority boarding (excluding London City Airport).

Gold boosts bonus Avios by 100% on booking. Other benefits include access to the First Lounge, first class check-in desks, priority boarding and free seat selection. Additionally, no booking or service fees are applicable.

Spending rewards

Reward points can be offset against the final flight price to reduce the overall cost or to upgrade a booking,
