Antigua, the bubbly big sister of Barbuda is renowned for its annual carnival and worldwide sailing regatta. The tiny island measuring less than 300 square kilometres is book-ended by the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean, framed with no less than 365 beaches.

Upscale Admiral's Inn delights sailing enthusiasts particularly during the world famous annual yacht regatta when local nightlife ignites. 23 elegant rooms with crisp white bedding and mahogany furniture are set within lush gardens within historic Nelson's Dockyard. The room only resort showcases Nelson's house (now a museum), a towering palm tree planted by Queen Elizabeth II, a bakery, bars and shops. Pillars harbour-side restaurant has weekly dinner dances with a steel band while Boom serves lunches beside its hammock framed infinity pool. .

Standing proud in a private, south easterly peninsula position amongst 100 acres of impeccable gardens, the resort is sandwiched between sugar sand beaches, sprinkled with plush accommodation. Fitness fanatics can swim laps, take aerobics classes, use non-motorised water sports and later dance to live music. Children keep entertained splashing in their own pool and racing crabs at the kids club. Restaurants are diverse, serving local favourites of fried fungi and conch fritters to five course feasts.

Tucked away on Antigua's East coast is the over 16s, all inclusive resort, Pineapple Beach Club. Situated on Long Bay with its band of coral reef, snorkelers are mesmerised by the plethora of tropical fish in its warm turquoise water. Refurbished garden rooms with cooling high speed fans suspended from vaulted ceilings overlook an array of hammocks shaded by swaying palm trees. Weekly cocktail parties ensure conversations between staff and fellow guests. Canapés and rum punch flow freely while calypso singers serenade.
